Logline:A man who seems to know it all is really just afraid of love, and after chasing (and being rejected by) his dream girl infatuation, becomes open to real love.
Synopsis: Rugged, Harly-riding-ladies' man, JESSE BRADLEY, 28, wakes up in a roadside motel only to discover his one-night stand and the most beautiful woman he has ever encountered, gone! He never got her name, but that doesn’t stop him from pursuing this “woman of his dreams." He searches desperately, retracing the events of the previous evening, as he scrambles across a series of backwater towns in quest of his Holy Grail.
Everywhere she’s been, he encounters a trail of broken-hearted admirers until he meets CARLYLE, a shy, scrawny twenty-three-year-old she graciously escorted to a wedding the night before. Jesse plies him with advice about women to gain his favor, and Carlyle informs Jesse that the woman he seeks was on her way to the monster Southwest Blue-chip Billiard Tournament in Winslow, Arizona, to ply her considerable expertise in the usually male-dominated sport.
At the Deep Pockets Billiards and Dance Hall, Jesse meets RANDIE, 27, an attractive, small-town bartender, but BILL, (30), a stranger, approaches, and Jesse inexplicably slugs him in the mouth. Randie is shocked by the behavior, and Jesse is tossed from the bar. As Jesse looks up from the gravel parking lot, spitting pebbles from his mouth, he gets a glimpse of his dream girl, the VIXEN, so close but so far, as she climbs the stairs in front of him and enters the bar, totally unaware of him.
The next morning, Jesse runs into Randie and her friend, FANCY (30), at the local diner when Carlyle shows up, suddenly married thanks to Jesse’s dating advice, and spills the beans about Jesse’s quest for the Vixen. Carlyle further embarrasses Jesse by calling him an “expert on female persuasion." Randie enjoys Jesse’s discomfort and taunts him by agreeing to get him back into the bar so she can witness his “mystical ways” in pursuit of the “perfect” woman.
But that night Jesse is thwarted once again as the bouncers deny him entry, so he sneaks around the side of the building and is chased off by another bouncer who just happens to be the junior high school track coach. The coach scares Jesse off with a starter pistol, and Jesse runs, scraping his arms, tearing his shirt, and falling into a quagmire of mud.
Undeterred, Jesse circles around the back of the bar to find Randie sending her bar-back home due to illness. Aghast at the poor sight, Randie ushers Jesse into her office and cleans him up. Now, needing help on the big night of the tournament, Randie offers Jesse a chance to work behind the bar, but only under the condition he doesn't pursue the vixen until the evening is over. Jesse agrees, and while lusting after the vixen from behind the bar, he interacts with several small-town patrons who all have a special place in their hearts for Randie.
Hopelessly out of reach, the crowd cheers the vixen on as she mows down contestant after contestant. Meanwhile, Jesse learns from others about Randie's five-year-old son and the fact her husband died a war hero in Afghanistan. The mutual attraction between Jesse and Randie grows until the vixen wins the billiard contest and Carlyle pulls Jesse away, giving him a chance to finally speak to her. Randie watches from afar as both Jesse and the vixen quietly reject each other, but a gentle hug and a kiss goodbye are misinterpreted by Randie, so she “fires” him on the spot. Dejected, Jesse leaves for home.
It turns out the man Jesse earlier punched in the mouth (Bill) was Jesse’s boss who just happened to sleep with Jesse’s girlfriend. As his top producer in a cutthroat investment banking firm, Bill begs for Jesse’s forgiveness and sends his Gulfstream G280 to pick him up, but after a night of reconnecting with all the egocentric up-and-comers in LA, Jesse realizes his heart remains in the backwater town with Randie.
The next morning, as Randie prepares to open for the day, she hears the sound of Jesse’s eight hundred pounds of Milwaukee steel and Kentucky chrome rolling into the gravel parking lot. Suddenly, and to her surprise, Jesse walks through the door and confesses his feelings for her. She smiles, takes him into her arms, and they hope for the best as the camera fades.
